Welcome to our public summer tours, where you can experience both the Vigeland Museum’s permanent collection and the artist’s home of Gustav Vigeland.

The Vigeland Museum is the former studio and residence of sculptor Gustav Vigeland (1869–1943). The museum features a permanent collection where you can see several of the sculptor’s earliest works, his well-known monuments and portrait busts, as well as the original plaster models of the iconic sculptures in Vigeland Park at full scale.

On the 3rd floor, Vigeland’s apartment is preserved with its original interior. The artist lived here from 1924 until his death in 1943. Every detail in the apartment was carefully planned by Vigeland himself, and he left his personal mark by designing carpets, cushions, tablecloths, candlesticks, and lamps.

The apartment can only be visited by appointment.

The museum building, one of Norway’s foremost examples of neoclassical architecture, was designed by architect Lorentz Harboe Ree.
