Gustav Vigeland / Vigeland elsewhere

Even though Vigeland is strongly represented in Oslo, you can find several sculptures by Gustav Vigeland in other parts of Norway, in Sweden and even in Sapporo, Japan.

Near the Royal Palace in Oslo you can see three of Gustav Vigeland's monuments; The Abel monument, Camilla Collett and Rikard Nordraak. In Bergen's city centre you can find Vigeland's statue of former prime minister Christian Michelsen, and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson in front of the theatre Den Nationale Scene. In Mandal Egil Skallagrimson and the bust of Amaldus Nielsen, and in Kristiansand the beautiful memorial of Henrik Wergeland.

Vigeland also worked on the restoration of the Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim. In total, Vigeland made 44 sculptures for the cathedral.
