Welcome to our Sunday guided tours, where you can explore both the museum and the apartment of Gustav and Ingerid Vigeland.
The Vigeland Museum was once the studio and residence of sculptor Gustav Vigeland (1869–1943). The museum's permanent collection features some of his earliest works, well-known monuments and portrait busts, as well as the original life-size plaster models of the iconic sculptures in Vigeland Park.
On the third floor, Vigeland’s apartment is preserved with its original interior. The artist lived here from 1924 until his death in 1943. Every detail of the apartment was carefully planned by Vigeland himself, who added a personal touch by designing carpets, cushions, tablecloths, candlesticks, and lamps. The apartment is only accessible by guided tour.
The museum building itself is one of Norway’s finest examples of neoclassical architecture, designed by architect Lorentz Harboe Ree.
