Vigeland Museum is sculptor Gustav Vigeland’s former studio and residence. The museum presents a permanent collection exhibition where you can experience several of the sculptor’s earliest works, monumental sculptures and portrait busts, as well as the full scale plaster originals of the iconic sculptures in Vigeland Park.
During the tour, you will be introduced to Gustav Vigeland’s artistic practice and the history behind the museum building, which is considered one of Norway’s foremost examples of neoclassical architecture and was designed by architect Lorentz Harboe Ree.
The tour also includes a visit to the artist’s home on the third floor, where Vigeland’s apartment has been preserved with its original interior. This was the artist’s home from 1924 until his death in 1943, and the apartment reflects Vigeland’s personal interest in interiors, materials and design.
