Visit the Vigeland Museum with Kids

Visiting with Children

Children are warmly welcome at the Vigeland Museum! The museum is owned by the City of Oslo and is part of our shared cultural heritage. At the same time, the building is protected, and the collection consists of original and irreplaceable works of art. This is why it is so important that we all work together to take care of this unique place, so that future generations can enjoy it too.

We kindly remind parents and guardians that children are their responsibility during the visit. Please talk with your children beforehand about why art should be seen – not touched. It is also appreciated if you help create a calm atmosphere in the galleries, so everyone can experience the art in peace.

At the reception desk, children can pick up a fun treasure hunt before exploring the museum. Once completed and returned, a small prize awaits! See our calendar for family-friendly activities, and remember to read the information carefully before attending. Children cannot take part in activities without an adult, unless this is specifically stated.

Strollers

For conservation reasons, strollers are not permitted inside the galleries. We recommend using a baby carrier – these can be borrowed at the reception. Strollers may be parked in the courtyard or locked to the bicycle rack outside. Please note that the entrance doors only allow standard single strollers, and that the museum unfortunately does not have an elevator.

Food and Drinks

Food and drinks are not allowed inside the museum and must be stored away during your visit. There are several cafés in Vigeland Park and benches outside the entrance where you can enjoy a snack.

Children’s Bicycles and Scooters

These are not permitted inside the museum or reception area, but may be locked or parked outside.

Changing Facilities

Baby changing facilities are available between galleries 7 and 8. Toilets are located in the reception area, but without changing facilities.

We hope you will greatly enjoy your visit to the Vigeland Museum. As a protected cultural heritage site, the museum has certain necessary restrictions, but we always strive to welcome you warmly and make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
