Accessibility
The Vigeland Museum is a listed building from the 1920s, and we strive to accommodate all visitors as best we can. However, certain conditions make access challenging – please feel free to contact us at postmottak.vigeland@kul.oslo.kommune.no to arrange assistance.
- The ground floor galleries are accessible for wheelchairs and hospital beds.
- Ramps are located at the main entrance and in the Courtyard.
- There is no elevator in the building. The Sketch Gallery (2nd floor) and Gustav Vigeland’s apartment (3rd floor) are only accessible by stairs.
- A wheelchair is available to borrow – please ask our staff upon arrival.
- An accessible toilet is located in Room 7.
Companion cards grant free admission for one companion.
Guide dogs are welcome in the museum.
Children are warmly welcome at the Vigeland Museum!
The museum displays original and irreplaceable works of art – therefore, it is important that the artworks are not touched. Caregivers are responsible for children during the visit, and we encourage adults to talk to children about why the art should be seen – not touched.
- Children can pick up a fun treasure hunt at the reception before visiting the museum.
- When the treasure hunt is completed and returned, a small prize awaits!
- Check our calendar for child-friendly activities.
Strollers
Due to the preservation status of the building, strollers are not allowed in the exhibition galleries.
- We recommend using a baby carrier – these can be borrowed at the reception.
- Strollers can be parked in the Courtyard or locked to the bike rack outside.
- Please note that the entrance doors do not accommodate double strollers, and there is no elevator in the museum.
