Clay Workshop for Adults
Welcome to an inspiring guided tour with clay modeling at the Vigeland Museum! This experience offers your group a unique opportunity to learn more about Gustav Vigeland (1869–1943), one of Norway’s most influential artists. After the tour, participants will have the chance to try their hand at being artists themselves in Vigeland’s own clay workshop.
This is an inclusive and accessible activity that provides participants with a relaxed and creative experience together. Clay modeling fosters both a sense of achievement and creativity, and our experience shows that it encourages connection and new conversations across the group.
The guided tour explores Vigeland’s artistic practice, his working process, and his significance in Norwegian art history. We take a closer look at selected sculptures and discuss themes such as form, expression, and materials. Through an interactive, dialogue-based approach, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how Vigeland worked and how his art continues to engage audiences today.
Following the tour, the experience continues in the museum’s clay workshop, where participants will have the opportunity to work with clay and explore three-dimensional form. Inspired by Vigeland’s sculptures, each participant will have the chance to create their own unique sculpture.
