Guided Tours for Schools

Bring your school class to the Vigeland Museum and get to know one of our most famous artists: Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943). Vigeland is best known for creating the Vigeland Park – the world's largest sculpture park created by a single artist. The park covers an area of over 300 acres and contains more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite, and wrought iron.

The guided tours are customized to educate different age groups, from kindergarten to high school. All our tours are based on dialogue-based teaching. For the youngest students, emphasis is placed on description; children talk about what they see, connect stories to the motifs, and reflect on the expressions and emotions in the sculptures. Older students gain insight into how Vigeland's sculptures were made, the museum's history, and Vigeland's life and work. Our main goal is to give students a positive and exciting encounter with three-dimensional art.

Please contact via email: jeanette.stabenfeldt@kul.oslo.kommune.no to book a tour for your class. Provide the desired date and time, number of students, grade level, and mobile number. Maximum 25 students per tour.

Tours/activities take place Tuesday through Friday between 09:00 and 14:00. The visit costs NOK 500,-.
